Council Chairman Clayton Voisin welcomes new business, new jobs to the Houma Community

(Houma, LA) -  Cash America is celebrating its expansion into the Houma community by bringing neighbors and community leaders together.  On Friday, May 27 at 9 a.m., Clayton Voisin, chairman of the Terrebonne Parish Council will join members of the Chamber of Commerce, to personally welcome the new business to the neighborhood during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the store located at 7174 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

“We take great pride in our neighborhoods and we are always excited to see new businesses move in,” said Chairman Voisin. “It is a sign that the area is growing and business is thriving to offset a struggling economy.”

The new store will add 4 new full-time jobs, a few part-time jobs and will help serve the growing Houma population.  According to the 2010 census, Terrebone is now the 16th fastest growing Parish in the state of Louisiana. The new Houma store marks the 24th Cash America location in the state.

“We are committed to the communities we serve and the residents who live there,” said Chuck Ceylan, market manager for Cash America. “We believe in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our customers.”

In the interest of safety, customers who visit the new location in Houma will receive a complimentary Cash America property identification kit called Operation ID. This kit is designed to help consumers record information about their personal property including serial/model numbers, store receipts and photos. Having complete and accurate descriptions of their items is great resource to have in the event your property is stolen. The kit also outlines how to work with local law enforcement agencies if they become a victim of a property crime.

The Grand Opening celebration, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 27-28, will also include jewelry and electronic giveaways, great savings on already low prices, free food and Cash America goodies.

The pawnshop will be giving away a 42-inch flat screen TV, Sony PlayStation 3 and gold jewelry. Sale prices include discounts up to 25 percent off musical instruments, 20 percent off select electronics, 15 percent off tools and 10 percent off jewelry and DVDs starting at $1.49.
